Looking back to move forward

Happy New Year! Here we are again, on the other side of another year in the books with the ripe opportunity of a blank slate before us. Some of us will step forward boldly claiming a resolution, like a definitive line in the sand and others may take a different approach like setting an intention and allowing the energy of it to meet them along the path.

I follow the latter, allowing an intention to bubble up from below and use it as the guidepost for the year ahead. I’ve learned, I must first review where I have been and what I have learned so it can inform where I wish to go.

With that, I would like to share with you all the lessons gifted to me this past year.

The top 10 lessons of 2023:

  1. I’m not done growing.

  2. Change is the only constant.

  3. Shining and being seen is the only option for growth.

  4. I don’t know it all and need to allow for help in the areas I’m blind.

  5. I can continue the same story and complain about it or I can do the hard thing and make changes.

  6. Acceptance comes with seeing the truth and not running away from it.

  7. Community is the way of the future.

  8. Prequalifying people robs them of choice and opportunity.

  9. The truth is the only path to total freedom.

  10. There is a time when our pain and darkness gives way to healing and light, and more often than not, it’s a divine appointment.

With this earned wisdom I have sat and allowed the heart and soul to inform me as I stand at the starting line of this new year. What is my intention, that word, which will inform my decisions? Which will be my North Star as I step forward in creating in the vastness of all that is currently unknown?

Before I even sat, I thought I had the answer, action. But, as I allowed the mind and soul to meet I could see a clogged dam breaking open. The energy of movement came in-so, yes, there is action in movement, but there is also a necessary flow that cannot be stopped.

There is a constant flow that informs and directs our lives. We often times take action to either follow the flow, go against it or even take necessary actions to block it. I believe life is gifting me the opportunity to fall into the flow of my own life. To bring movement and action to the clogged parts of my life and being and welcome back flow, even when its direction is new or scary.

I feel a trifecta of intention: Action, Movement, Flow. One always leading to the other, almost like a perfect recipe on how to approach the year ahead. My curiosity is piqued, my heart feels ready and my ego is a little shaky so let’s see where life’s flow takes me in 2024.

What is your intention or word for the year? How will you allow it to lead and inform you? I would love to know. Feel free to let me know.

Wishing my entire community a very Happy New Year full of intentional and conscious living.  Here’s to all of us stepping forward and creating what will become the new.
